I love this advert from Ikea that reminds us (not that we librarians need reminding!) of the joys of 'real' books!

A few months ago I was excited to be asked to write a short piece for the Australian Library and Information Association magazine, Incite. The article was for a section of the magazine called 'Energise, Enthuse & Inspire' and I could write about anything - obviously with the aim of energising, ethusing and inspiring the reader! I decided that as I am from England, working in Singapore and studying in Australia, (and writing for an Australian magazine), it made sense to talk about my international experiences as a Librarian. As I explain in my article, I strongly believe that Librarians need to take a global view. The technological world is changing rapidly which has a huge effect on librarianship. We must actively keep pace with what is happening around the world so that, where possible, we can stay at the forefront of developments.
You can read the rest of my thoughts on taking a global view in my article! :) |

I recently worked as Assistant Librarian at a British International School in Singapore. I've now relocated back to the UK and I am hoping to find a job that I enjoy as much as the one I've just left! Searching the ShelvesThis is my blog for interesting things to do with my work, my Continuing Professional Development (CPD), my studies or just anything that catches my eye relating to libraries, technology or books.
